A life devoted to solving complex problems
I am addicted to solving the most complex problems to be found in business today. The proof is in my otherwise uncanny ability to turn up at companies and within industries at the very moment of their greatest crises. I began my corporate career at General Electric as Six Sigma took root just prior to Jack Welch’s retirement, just in time to use the methodology to save the launch of a revolutionary new CT scanner. I served as a Master Black Belt and managed the expense reduction program for a DSL company in the race to build the first nationwide fiber optic network for high-speed Internet. I ran the supplier quality team for two companies at Black & Decker just as they began sourcing whole product lines from Asia. I served on the front lines of Bank of America’s first forays into data mining and analytics, helped them develop new tools to manage risk in the wake of the financial crisis, and led the charge to design and deploy business process controls in the Mortgage space required to restore $2 billion in fee income. I deployed labor standards, managed industrial engineering, and led supply chain network optimization efforts for Owens & Minor, the largest independent distributor of medical supplies in the United States. I’ve solved fiendishly complex operational problems for Fortune 500 and smaller companies in manufacturing, supply chain, financial, and tech industries—before I stepped out on my own as a consultant. I now place my comprehensive and powerful problem-solving skillset at your disposal. Let us work together to tackle the problems which have haunted your dreams. Together, we’re genius!
What People Are Saying
“
Jeff is an extremely competent quality professional and I highly recommend him. We worked together in supporting a 1000+ person technology organization. Jeff succeeded in that role for three chief reasons: 1. he demonstrated very strong knowledge of Six Sigma tools and techniques; 2. he used his creative mindset to effectively communicate new ideas and approaches to problems; 3. he readily adapted his business style to earn the trust and respect all employees he served in that group from senior executives to the newest hires. Jeff is dependable, competent, and personable. He has natural leadership skills that inspire people to listen to his message and then follow him.

I had the pleasure of working with Jeff on a number of cross-functional projects at Owens & Minor. He combines an in-depth technical understanding with extensive business knowledge. His strong project management skills have allowed him to lead among his peers, coordinating multiple groups to arrive at shared goals. Jeff was a pioneer for new technologies as well, bringing updated data handling tools to the company. Not only did he champion their use within his own team, but he was always available to help others make use of the same technology. He is always on the lookout for process improvements. He looks past the surface to the "why" of an issue, and understands that the only way to find the right answer is to first ask the right question. In short, Jeff is an asset to any project or organization. He has the rare ability to bridge effectively between business owners and IT, to lead large, enterprise-spanning projects, and to streamline business process along the way.

“
Jeff took our Labor Management System to the next level in partnership with our leaders in the field. He led several cleverly-branded initiatives (30 for 30, Model R, Plan85) to improve system utilization, doubling the percentage of labor hours measured to engineered standards in just 2 years. He helped me foster healthy competition among our general managers through the first company-wide reporting of labor productivity metrics and trends. He was committed to helping our teammates find and remove obstacles to providing the world-class service we’re known for and had a much larger positive impact than expected given how small his team was (often just 1 or 2 engineers to support over 40 DCs representing $9-10 B in annual revenue).

Best mentor ever!! -- What more can I say. Jeff was the main reason I was successful at Rhythms. His steady guidance and extremely challenging assignments made me realize and develop skills I never knew I had. His sense of humor, excellent technical skills and his superior leadership skills are unsurpassed. I would follow Jeff anywhere.
